When Luis Valdez came to the Seacoast from San Diego, he fell in love with the area. What he missed most, however, was authentic, fresh Mexican food. He decided to fill a huge void in the area by bringing the recipes of his family. Along with his wife Ramona, they opened Loco Coco’s Tacos in October of 2004.
What started as a takeout restaurant with a couple of high-top tables that shared a building with a boat yard, grew over the years to include a counter service and takeout room, a cantina, a full-service dining room and screened in patio. The clientele ranges from workers at the nearby Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to diners looking for some quick takeout and families looking for something that everyone will eat.
After owning and operating Loco’s for more than 16 years, in February of 2021, the Valdez family decided it was time to retire and sold the business and property to longtime Loco’s general manager, Jami and her cousin Doug and his wife, Melissa.
So come in and try one of our gigantic burritos, our crunchy nachos and our original specialty drinks. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose.
