Buenas Dias!
Loco Coco’s Tacos is a nationally-recognized Mexican restaurant and cantina in the shadow of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in picturesque Kittery, Maine. Opened in 2004, it has served thousands of families and patrons with its authentic recipes, local ingredients and diverse cocktail and beer menu.
Owned by cousins Jami and Doug Scardina, the duo never intended on going into business together. Growing up, the cousins would visit each other’s families a couple times each year, either making the trip down to Long Island to see Doug and family or come up to Kittery to see Jami and hers. But as fate would have it, the Scardinas of the North and the Long Island Scardinas joined together to buy Loco Coco’s Tacos in 2021.
Jami grew up in Kittery, graduating from Traip Academy in 1994. After a brief period in California and Pennsylvania, she moved back to the Seacoast and worked at a bevy of local restaurants, honing her management skills before joining Loco’s in 2013. Serving as general manager for eight years leading up to purchasing the building, she gained the respect of her staff, customers and community, where she is commonly referred to as “The Loco’s Lady” when out and about.
Doug grew up in Farmingdale, Long Island and lives there with his wife, Melissa and two children. A graduate of SUNY Oneonta class of 1994, Doug has been in IT sales for 20-plus years. Prior to his career in sales, Doug worked in restaurants and bars, always interested in learning more of the business.
